Welcome to Dayton United for Human Rights (DUHR)! Your dedication to human dignity for all is what fuels our mission. Together, we can make a powerful impact and ensure that every person's rights are protected and honored. Let's create a world where human rights are a reality for everyone.

Dayton United for Human Rights (DUHR) is committed to building a more community-centered Dayton by working in solidarity with government, civil society, grassroots organizations, businesses, and individuals. The Community Collaborative Report represents a community insight report centered around dignity, safety, and well-being of all people, grounded in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
Over the past year and a half, the Human Rights Community Insight Project has brought together residents, advocates, organizations, and leaders to engage in honest conversation about the needs, gaps, and opportunities shaping human rights work in our region. Through community meetings, listening sessions, and collaborative dialogues, participants shared lived experiences, identified systemic challenges, and lifted up solutions grounded in dignity, equity, and shared responsibility. This collective effort reflects a deep commitment to building a stronger and more connected human rights ecosystem.
The Insight Report offers clear and actionable recommendations organized around the “Three C’”: City, Community, and County. These recommendations highlight the roles each sector can play in strengthening protections, enhancing coordination, and expanding access to vital resources. They underscore the importance of city-level leadership, community-driven initiatives, and county-wide collaboration to address root causes, reduce disparities, and support the well-being of all residents. Together, these strategies form a roadmap designed by and for the community.
The full Human Rights Community Insight Report will be published in early 2026, marking an important milestone for ongoing human rights efforts across the Miami Valley. As we move toward the release, we extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, knowledge, and lived experiences to this process. Your voices shaped this report, and your continued engagement will ensure its recommendations lead to real, lasting impact.
Celebrating volunteers and grassroots organizations is powerful because it honors the people who ignite change at its source. These everyday leaders transform compassion into action, courage into advocacy, and challenges into opportunities for progress. By lifting up their work, we affirm that real human rights impact doesn’t start in boardrooms, it starts in communities, fueled by individuals who give their time, voice, and heart. Recognizing them not only strengthens their momentum, but empowers others to rise, take ownership, and join a movement where every person has the power to create lasting change.
